How To Get Accepted To The School Of Your Choice For Community College Students
Your first day in community college can and, most likely, will seem daunting. You have new classes that are “college level” in a brand new environment. Don’t let your nerves get the best of you though, as this begins your higher-education journey.
This post is designed to assist those students who are planning on transferring after knocking out the first two years of academic credit for a bachelor’s degree. Since this is the intent, I will most likely be glossing over other scenarios a community college student may find themselves in. Without further ado, let us begin.
You are a student attending a community college. This means you have two years to make a good impression on faculty, accomplish something impressive, get and maintain good grades, acquire a leadership position and ensure that your courses will transfer to the university of your choice. Now this sounds like a lot, so I will break it down.
Making a good impression on faculty is a useful thing to do. The faculty at your school can and most likely will help you to succeed going forward. There are many ways to make a good impression on faculty. Methods that I took included: attending office hours regularly to talk about the subject matter in a greater depth; attend any school events that are hosted by faculty you know, and volunteer to help them with their event if applicable, to make your presence known; participate in any academic competitions and always prepare…
