How To Get Into The School Of Your Choice For High Schoolers

Acquiring the coveted acceptance from whatever school you choose is frequently on the mind of high schoolers each year. Students wish to know how to get in, what stands out and, most importantly, are they a strong enough applicant. While it is difficult to gauge if you are a strong enough applicant without seeing the entire applicant pool, there are certain things that can be done to help you stand out in a crowd.

Freshman Year:

Freshman year begins and you are thrust into a new environment without any idea what you are doing or how to navigate this new school. As a freshman, typically the classes you take are set in stone. For the classes that are not set in stone, try to take an extra science course or an honors course, if available. These will help to showcase academic breadth. Do not bite off more than you can chew though. It is crucial that you maintain an excellent GPA.

During your freshman year, you will want to get involved in a club or organization that you enjoy. As to which organization you join is irrelevant, the only thing that matters is that you enjoy yourself. Be involved right off the bat, if there is an opportunity to go above and beyond, take it. A good rule of thumb to have is to leave the organization better than you found it. Make that your motto for every day in this organization. If they ask someone to act as a recruiter, volunteer.
