Phi Theta Kappa is an honors society for two-year colleges. Phi Theta Kappa just turned 100 years old. This honor society has been helping students obtain scholarship funding, providing them with leadership opportunity, offering personal development training and much more. Phi Theta Kappa follows four hallmarks: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Fellowship. They are placed in that order for a reason. You must first study your craft and acquire a mastery of it, only then can you become a leader. Once you are a leader, you will have the tools to help those in need. Once you have helped these individuals, you may celebrate. At least, that is the way that my Phi Theta Kappa advisor described it to me.

I was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, an officer in my chapter and a supporter of my region. I took every advantage Phi Theta Kappa had offered me and carried it as far as it would go. I honestly believe that Phi Theta Kappa is the real gem of the community college system. Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) provides students with all sorts of scholarships, some are national, some are specifically for the region and some are specifically for the state. Not only do they offer outside scholarships, but many universities will offer you money just for being a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
