When trying to learn any subject, it is important to have time to practice and study. This is especially difficult when you lead busy lives. For example, I have a daughter and a wife whom I care for and I work two jobs. Finding time to code is difficult when your work week is anywhere between 65 hours and 100 hours a week.

A typical day for me is wake up at 5AM, my daughter usually wakes up to the alarm clock; change my daughter’s diaper; get her some breakfast; wake my wife; shower; get dressed for work; have my wife drop me off at work; work 6:00AM-2:00PM; begin working my second job from 2:30PM-7:30PM; go home; read my daughter a bed time story; put her to bed for 8:30PM; begin my coding exercises; and finally, I go to bed at 11PM. On Saturdays, I only work my second job which goes from 8AM-11AM and 2:30PM-5:00PM. I use the time between 11AM and 2:00PM to do my coding exercises so that when I get home, I can dedicate the rest of my day to my daughter and my wife.

My schedule will soon change as the upcoming school term begins, and I will have to mold my new schedule to allow me time to code. That is the key factor that I have learned through my educational endeavors, learn to be flexible, but do your best to maintain a schedule.

What is your experience with creating a schedule? Did it work for you? How diligent were you? What were your main issues with maintaining a consistent schedule?

Thank you for reading!
